Sawadee Bristol! Giving Rosa’s Thai the Bristol treatment

Bringing the one and only Rosa's Thai to Bristol!

Rosa's Thai

Launches are without a doubt one of our favourite aspects of running our agency, and with over a decade of experience in the hospitality industry in Bristol, it’s fair to say we know a thing or two about how to make a splash in the city.

As well as working with local businesses, we also love bringing nationwide names to Bristol, so when Rosa’s Thai got in touch we knew we had exactly the right approach to be able to help them integrate into the Bristol scene, showcasing their amazing range of authentic Thai food, whilst avoiding the old ‘London curse’ that can so often happen for bigger brands coming into other cities.

Rosa’s Bristol was pencilled to be the 43rd opening for the team, but their roots are about as indie as you get! Founder Saiphin - a true powerhouse of a woman who we all fell instantly in love with - started with a street food stall on Brick Lane in London, before opening the original Rosa’s in an old caff on Hanbury Street - they kept the cafe’s original name as a nod to the venue, hence Rosa’s was born.

The team at Rosa’s totally got the importance of understanding the Bristol landscape, which was why for this opening they decided to engage a local agency - enter Duchess!

They wanted to create pre-opening hype around the launch, as well as kicking off with a launch evening for press, influencers and Bristol businesses. We also helped them with an outreach campaign to local businesses to promote a special preview evening as well as a continued reviewer campaign to continue post-launch.

What they needed

What we did

Working with the Rosa’s team was incredibly easy - they had a really clear vision of what they wanted to achieve, as well as a really tried and tested launch procedure. They also put so much trust in us to advise on what would work, and what wouldn’t.

We began with the traditional PR, sending press releases to all of the key local titles, before looking at other partnership opportunities with organisations such as the Bristol City Centre BID and Visit Bristol. Rosa’s have a range of great offers and deals on top of their standard offering, and with their city centre location in mind, we identified a range of core demographics - local businesses and office workers, students and foodies. Armed with this we started shaping up a launch event which would bring together all of these key audiences, giving Rosa’s a wide reach across all of their key target customers.

Rosa’s were very open to paid partnership opportunities, but we wanted to make sure that they were spending their budget carefully, so we settled on a collaboration competition with Best Of Bristol. This campaign not only hit all of their key audiences, but was hugely successful, with over 1,000 entries and a massive 600 extra followers for Rosa’s!

On the launch night we had a full house of local influencers, business owners, tastemakers and foodies - a great turn out for a particularly wet and windy late September evening! The team and Saiphin came down to Bristol from London for the launch (where everyone fell just as in love with her as we did!) and there was no shortage of incredible food, goodie bags and free-flowing fizz.

Post-launch we’ve been working to enlist influencers and reviewers to visit, ensuring there is a steady stream of chat about Rosa’s and their excellent offering - something we’ll be continuing to push until the end of this year.

Natalie Poole, Marketing Manager

It’s been a pleasure working with Duchess for our newest opening in Bristol. Their passion for hospitality and strong community partnerships made them the perfect agency to help execute our local-first approach. We couldn’t be happier with the results and the response we’ve had to our opening.

Rosa’s Thai

The pre-launch and initial first month campaigns have been massively successful and we couldn’t be happier to see so many people loving Rosa’s new addition to the city. We gained multiple pieces of pre-launch coverage across all of the key Bristol titles, and have amassed over 126,000 views across the reviews so far, reaching an audience of almost 150,000 local people - and there’s still plenty more to come!
