Six by Nico - Giving an iconic brand the Bristol treatment

From murals to Mars Bars - we gave Six by Nico a launch that was pure Bristol.

Six By Nico

Every now and then a brief lands in your inbox that sets the whole office alight with excitement. One of those potential clients that feels like a bit of a golden goose; a dream client that set the whole team on a laser-focused mission to win them. Six by Nico, the groundbreaking Glaswegian born brand who have been shaking up the hospitality world with their unique take on fine dining, was one of those…

Six by Nico came to us via the Leeds based legends at Hatch PR, who were looking for a local partner to ensure they hit all of the right people and publications, as well as putting an authentic Bristol spin on their launch. If you’ve seen any of Six by Nico’s new venue launches previously you’ll know that like their menus, their attention to detail is absolutely unrivalled, and they go above and beyond to integrate seamlessly into each new city – music to our ears.

As well as the usual launch events, influencer outreach, ambassadors, local press and partnerships, the team also wanted to create a unique launch video, tying in Nico himself and a theme which was inherently Bristol. They were totally up to ideas, and the brief was ‘the more creative the better’, so you know we went to town...

What they needed

What we did

In the original pitch process we’d suggested collaborating with a local street artist, as nothing says Bristol more than that, but we didn’t put forward just anyone - we teamed up with the one and only Inkie, arguably one of the most instantly recognisable artists on the scene, and luckily, great friend of Duchess!

Working closely with the team and Inkie, we created a concept which would bring together Nico’s Glaswegian heritage with the launch menu of ‘The Chippie’ and put a proper Bristol twist on it. Using the hoarding outside the Quaker’s Friars restaurant, we created a huge mural, designed and painted by Inkie and Sepr, which drew in details from the menu itself, including a Mars bar and can of Irn Bru, set against the backdrop of the city skyline.

We also teamed up with our friends at Under The Wing Productions to bring the mural to life on film. The storyline followed Nico arriving from Glasgow, picking up Inkie, dropping him off under cover of darkness, and the dramatic reveal of the final piece.

Once the video was launched across social, the hype really kicked in and it was on to the next task - filling six sittings across an exclusive launch weekend. We brought together hundreds of different influencers, businesses, tastemakers and local movers and shakers who visited before the restaurant opened to the public.

We also worked closely with the team to identify key ambassadors, who would be able to help spread the word about the restaurant over the course of the coming year.

Cameron Osborne

“Meg and Clem were great to work with for our new venue opening and they might be the most well connected people in Bristol and helped bring all the right people to our launch events! Would absolutely recommend working with them. ”

Brand Marketing Manager

To say we’ve never quite seen a launch like it would be an understatement! The excitement in the run up to the launch reached fever pitch, and it certainly felt like an invite to Six by Nico was one of the hottest tickets in town.

We filled six sittings across launch weekend, with over 320 guests in attendance, and the post-launch social media coverage amassed almost 1 million views across social media. Bookings for the restaurant were fully booked for weeks after opening, and even now, 8 weeks down the line, the venue is averaging around 850 bookings per week.

Working with the Six by Nico team was a masterclass in doing things differently, and their creative approach and attention to detail was astounding. Needless to say, we can’t wait to continue to work with them on more creative projects for them for future menus!
