How we brought the gift of free gelato for a year to Cardiff and the South West with Swoon Gelato.

We’ve always swooned over the opportunity to work with Swoon Gelato and having worked with them on previous campaigns like their Taylor Swift flavour launch, we jumped at the chance to help them roll out a brand new campaign. We’re biased, but we think this might be one of our BEST YET, so here is the scoop!
When the South West’s most sought after and cult status gelato makers, Swoon, got in touch to create a coveted ‘black card’ campaign, we practically melted at the opportunity (we’ll stop with the puns eventually)! We sought to produce two campaigns, one to promote to their local audience and a second campaign to push to their broader audience and to their loyal fanbase.
Swoon needed to create brand awareness in their new location in Cardiff, as well as boosting awareness to their broader audience across Bath & Bristol. After some creative sessions with the team we came up with the idea to create two interactive campaigns for them, offering the prize of the ‘Swoon Card’, giving the winner free Gelato for one whole year (we’re not jealous or anything).

What we did
We had two audiences to tackle with Swoon, one being their immediate audience in Cardiff City and their wider audience across the south-west. Some of the most engaging interactive campaigns are straightforward to the point and have a good incentive to get people involved.
Campaign One
With the knowledge that students were about to descend back onto Cardiff's streets we decided to launch a Treasure Hunt in Cardiff City Centre.
Armed with the newly created Swoon Cards, our content team headed to Cardiff, dashing to the most iconic spot in Cardiff to film the cards being hidden in place and hinting at the location to help people suss out the spot.
We launched a short teaser a week ahead of the official Treasure Hunt to build suspense with the local Cardiff audience and when freshers rolled around we were all go! Just before we launched the final treasure hunt video we had the card hidden in its allocated spot and sat back and simply waited for the winner to make themselves known.
Campaign Two
This one was a Like and Share campaign to push to Swoon’s wider audience and expand on their brand awareness across the South West. This method creates traffic to the social media platforms, and to the friends of friends of their already loyal audience.
Ahead of the Like & Share competition we made a super glossy video, showcasing the gelato with the Swoon Card in situ to show the prospective audience what they would win!

Swoon
Over the course of this campaign we saw a massive increase in reach (31.2K views!) and a huge increase in interactions, followers and engagement as well. This campaign was the best performing content Swoon has ever shared! It’s also brought more interest to the account and definitely helped put bums on seats and gelato in mouths at all three Swoon locations.
